Overview

EV Life Check ("we", "us", "our") operates evlifecheck.com — a free battery degradation calculator for electric vehicles. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and how it is used.

The short version: the calculator runs entirely in your browser. We don't store your vehicle data, range inputs, or results anywhere. We use standard analytics and optional advertising cookies to keep the site free — you are always in control of that through the cookie banner.

What we collect

Pages visited, time on site, browser type, device type, and approximate location (country/region). Collected via Google Analytics if you consent.

Small files stored in your browser to remember your cookie preferences and, if consented, to enable analytics and advertising functionality.

Standard server logs including your IP address, browser, referring page, and request timestamps. Retained briefly for security and diagnostic purposes.

Calculator inputs
Your vehicle selection, range values, and battery readings are processed locally in your browser only. None of this is transmitted to or stored on our servers.

Your calculator data stays on your device. Everything you enter — your vehicle, range, and battery percentage — is computed entirely within your browser and never sent to us.
How we use it

Analytics data is used to understand how the site is being used — which features are popular, where users drop off, and how to improve the experience. We do not sell analytics data to third parties.

If you have consented to advertising cookies, Google may use that data to show you relevant ads. We have no access to individual-level ad data. All advertising is managed through Google AdSense under their own privacy policy.

Log data is used solely for security monitoring and troubleshooting. It is not linked to any personal profile.

Cookies & consent

We use Google Consent Mode v2 and a cookie consent banner. Until you make a choice, all non-essential cookies are blocked by default. You can accept or reject cookies at any time using the Cookie Settings link in the footer.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights including access to your data, correction, deletion, and the right to object to processing. Because we collect minimal personal data and your calculator inputs are never transmitted, most rights requests will result in confirmation that we hold nothing beyond anonymised analytics.

Data retention & security

Analytics data is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months by default, after which it is automatically deleted. Server logs are retained for no longer than 30 days. Cookie consent records are stored locally in your browser and are cleared when you clear your browser data.

We use HTTPS across the entire site. We do not store passwords, payment information, or sensitive personal data of any kind.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the site or applicable law. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

For material changes, we will make a reasonable effort to notify users via a notice on the site.
